ONE Fighting Championship aims to be the biggest organization in Asian history. The first show, ONE Fighting Championship: Champion vs. Champion, took place at the 12,000 capacity Singapore Indoor Stadium on 3 September 2011 and featured Phil Baroni, Yoshiyuki Yoshida, Gregor Gracie, and Eduard Folayang.
The organization is based in Singapore but plans to put on events all over Asia and CEO / Owner Victor Cui has listed Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bangkok, Manila, Seoul and Shanghai as likely destinations for future shows. ONE Fighting Championship will be holding events in all major cities in Asia as well as a national qualifier series and reality TV program. [2]
CEO and Owner Victor Cui is the former promoter of Martial Combat, an ESPN Star Sports owned promotion which put on 12 events in 2010.[3] According to Cui Martial Combat was a "small pilot test project" and ONE Fighting Championship will be spending fifteen times as much on each event as Martial Combat did. The funding comes from a group of foreign investors.[4]
ONE Fighting Championship will institute the Pride Fighting Championships rules combined with the Nevada Rules; allowing for soccer kicks, head stomps, and permitting the use of elbows.[5]
On 26 October 2011 CEO/owner Victor Cui announced the formation of the One FC network, an alliance of camps and promotions in Asia and Australia including:
